Halloweekend
It was an evening of ghouls, goblins and really scantily dressed girls at the W Hotel. I shot photos for 944 magazine dressed as an Indian goddess, with sari-tying skills courtesy of Cathryne.

Pics of the week [via iPhone]
Ack, you’d think the instant gratification of photo-taking and blogging with my iPhone would mean posting more often…guess not.
Here are some of my faves from the last 10 days.
At San Juan Capistrano on my birthday:
The koi pond:
In Newport Beach:
The District lounge in Newport Beach (still my birthday!):

All things Hollywood
I’m in L.A. for the third weekend in a row. And loving it.
For the longest time I was convinced that the City of Angels had nothing to offer me except gridlock traffic and poser slimeball wannabes trying to make it big in the music or acting biz. I’ve come to realize it’s a Disneyland of sorts for grown-ups, and wishing upon a star sometimes actually produces some pretty amazing results.
I’m here with Aubrey covering last night’s Blitzen Trapper/Jenny Lewis/Ray LaMontagne show at the Hollywood Bowl, and Incubus tonight, for LA2DAY. We’ve been talking about how different it is, going to shows to “work” instead of as a fan enjoying music. I’m not complaining, it’s just that with all the perks and access, there’s a lot of opportunity for breakdown.
Last night seemed to magically turn out in our favor. I got my shots at the show’s opening, Aubs got her Polaroid of the band hanging at their van after the show, and we were both granted wristbands for the after-show hangout with friends and family. Only in Hollywood, this includes guests Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhall and Kate Bosworth. Plus, of all people, Fran “The Nanny” Drescher and Blake Lewis of American Idol fame. We also passed Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel during the show as they found their way to their seats. *Drooling.*
Trying not to get my hopes up for another stellar evening.
UPDATE: Um, yeah. Dreams came true and then some. Uh-mazing (if I say so myself) photos of Brandon & co. coming soon.

In the meantime
I used to argue with my dad that when someone says “You have your work cut out for you,” it means that the job is going to be easy. And I swore that if someone were to have a snack a couple hours before dinner, this would “tie” them over until the meal. Wow, looks like public school really did a number on me.
That said, I just updated my Photoshelter portfolio. Hopefully it will tide you over until I can get my photo website up and running. Stay tuned for www.stacymariesd.com…
What you think about, you bring about
My photo on the entire back page of 944’s July issue! *Grinning!*

Serendipity 2009
I posted some photos taken with my Motorola Razor here last year, but was inspired to post again after reading an article about Shawn Rocco, a professional photographer now made famous on the New York Times’ “Lens” blog for taking shots with his Motorola E815 cell phone. He even got one of President Obama, lucky bastard.
Shawn, quoted in the blog, said: “Serendipity is a very powerful thing . . . I’m not a voyeur, but I like catching people in their own little world, without interrupting them.”
Here’s a peek into my little world.

Ben Kweller on LA2DAY
Aubrey Nicole has been writing for LA2DAY — Los Angeles’ No. 1 online lifestyle site — for a few weeks and now I am a contributing photographer! She took me along to shoot the Ben Kweller show at the El Rey Theatre last weekend in El Lay.

Gettin’ cultured & stuff
Saturday night began with the “Saturdays Off the 405″ event at the Getty Center, followed by dinner at the 100-year-old Cole’s French Dip Sandwiches and a visit to Bordello — built on the site of the oldest bar in LA. Historic heaven with Aubs & Ryan!
Getty pics coming soon on LA2DAY.
